A leading moral spokesperson will apparently use his Sunday morning pulpit to highlight the depravity of the current administration, accuse it of committing "outrageous" acts, and condemn its failure do to all that is possible to save human lives (American ones that is).
Per yesterday's McClathchy Newspaper article based upon transcripts of an interview with Chris Wallace of "Fox New Sunday":
CIA interrogators were justified in exceeding even the broad authorizations the Justice Department gave them to handle terrorist suspects, former Vice President Dick Cheney said in an interview for broadcast Sunday, suggesting that any aggressive tactic was justified in the goal of preventing another terrorist attack.
Thus, our own former Vice President comes close, if not actually, to admitting his own law breaking when he so brazenly displays his disdain for the rule of law. It wasn't enough that hand-picked lawyers provided incompetent legal counsel clearly intended to serve as cover for official lawbreaking. According to Mr. Cheney, CIA interrogators where justified in exceeding even those sham legal guidelines -- that there was, in fact, no limit to what our government can inflict upon human beings if the goal is to prevent another terrorist attack. In essence, Cheney is clearly stating that CIA interrogators where not only justified in threatening to blow detainee brains out, torture them with drills, rape their mothers, and murder their children, but that they would also have been justified in actually doing all those things, and more, as long as the goal was preventing another terrorist attack.
In a surprise move, apparently Chris Wallace at one point in the interview challenged Cheney on this point. In a first ever exclusive, this blog has a video clip below of Wallace confronting Cheney (although he curiously calls him "Roper" -- must be a nickname -- hopefully its not based on one of those "enhanced" interrogation techniques).
